AI Mold Garden

AI Mold Garden is a digital video composed of the products of training an AI model on images of mold. By teaching an AI system to reproduce mold, it can prepare the technology to imagine its own, organic death. For the video, the model’s output images are re-processed through another model that must determine the subject of the image to result in a transparent image. These images are then collaged together and revealed slowly over time using growth patterns from fungus.
